Split Second

Created for the GMTK Game Jam 2019.

NOTE: I hadn't figured out how to work butler at the time of submission, so this is a zipped up download with the game files and "splitsecond.exe" which will run the game. As such, please download the file from the website rather than the itch app and unzip it :)

The theme for the game jam is "Only One", which inspired me to try and create a turn based game where you only have one second to act each turn. Wanting to avoid simply making a non-rhythmical 'Crypt of the Necrodancer' I opted to make it somewhat more action focused. I believe there are a number of other ways I could have achieved it, but I settled on this being an option that I could realistically implement into a game of sorts within the allotted 48 hours, since I was working alone, and this is my first ever game jam!

Hopefully you enjoy the result. I personally think it's a bit clunky, but fun enough to play a few rounds of! :)
